In the actual world, there are people who react to the campaigns physically and campaigners can identify the progress of the campaign. In the Digital world, people still react but campaigners cannot identify the exact physical reaction. Then they use RATINGs to measure the progress of campaigns.

The rating is simply identified as the scale,

  • Graphic rating scale.
  • Numerical rating scale.
  • Descriptive rating scale.
  • Comparative rating scale.

In digital marketing campaign progress measuring, we use different rates relevant to those display metrics scales.

Reach rate

Basically, in campaigning to open base, reaching is the most numeric thing that is measured. Reach means the number of people who have seen your post.

Impression rate

Impression rate means the times viewers have seen your post. impression rate might be higher than reach rate. That indicates some people saw your advertisement multiple times.

There are two methods that CPC and CPM

CPC is the Cost Per Click, CPM is the Click Per thousand impression.

CPM is used for high-volume campaigns.

Click rate

The impression viewers that click the links for more details or call for action buttons indicated Click rate formal used CTR (click-through rate). CTR is calculated related to impressions.

Engagement rate


Engagement rate is simply described as How actively the audience interacts with your campaign. Normally reactions, comments, shares, saves, direct messages, mentions (tagged or untagged), click-throughs, clicks, profile visits, replies, retweets, quote tweets, calls, texts, sticker taps (Stories), emails, Get Directions, use of branded hashtags, etc. The normal engagement rate is between 1-5 percent. And most media channels provide a suit for tracking those rates

There are a few ways to measure engagement rate with different methods.

  • Engagement rate by reach

How many people engage in your campaign within seen people.

  • Engagement rate by post

The most usable way in the campaign. This measures engagements by ‘followers’ on a specific post.

  • Engagement by Impression

How many people engage in your campaign within seen once or multiple times.

  • Daily engagement rate

This measures daily engagement compared with the potential maximum followers.

  • Engagement by views

When posting video content, how much do peoples view/play the video within seen people?

Cost per engagement rate

How much spent for the 1 engagement calculate with the amount of spent divided by total engagements.

Open rate

This measured with email marketing that how many receivers opens their emails related to sending emails.

conversion rate

conversion rate is the number of conversions divided by the total number of visitors.

Web traffic rate

Web traffic rate is the amount of data sent and received by visitors to a website.

Return on investment rate

Return on investment rate (ROI) is calculated by dividing the profit earned on an investment by the cost of that investment. ROI is important to measure when planning a marketing campaign.

Digital marketers make decisions partially based on those metrics. With rates marketers can track the campaign’s success, directions of the campaign and results, follow up.
